Dive Into the BYD HAN Experience: A European Owner’s Tale
The pros and cons of owning a BYD EV car in Europe.
Hey everyone who loves EVs or is just curious! I’ve been driving my BYD HAN all over Europe, and wow, do I have some stories for you. Here’s my own list of the good and the not-so-good things about owning this electric car. And guess what? For every bit of info, I’ve added a link to a full post where I share all the details about my experiences. Consider this your little glimpse into what it’s like to own a BYD HAN in Europe, right from someone who does it.
The Range Reality
Ever looked at the range numbers car makers give and felt hopeful? Here’s a tip: take that number and knock off about 30%. It’s kind of like when you’re on a diet – the reality often doesn’t match the glossy promises.
Charging Time Tales
Hoping for a fast charge and go? Well, you’ll need to be patient with EVs. Even though the ads say differently, it’s pretty rare to find a charging station in Europe that gives you more than 50kW. And if your car can handle 100kW, you might want to bring a book – because you’ll be waiting for around 2 hours.
The Great Charging Adventure
Planning a trip over 100km? It feels like you’re planning a space mission. You need to know where you can charge up because running out of battery in an EV isn’t like running low on gas. And waiting in line? It’s as common as rain in London. You might find a charger, but there’s a good chance it’s not working that day.
Quick But Not For Long
Going fast on highways? That’s when EVs really start to use up battery quickly. Going over 100km/h means your battery will drain much faster than if you stick to 90km/h, which is the best speed for saving energy but still moving along.
Cross-Border Challenges
Thinking about a road trip across Europe? Great idea, but you might need as many charging cards as visas. The charging network varies a lot, and the card that works in one country might not work in another.
Turning Heads with the BYD HAN
Driving a BYD HAN around? It gets a lot of attention. People will talk to you about it, and even police officers give it a look. It’s like being famous, but without the paparazzi.
Join the Sports Car Club at a Lower Cost
Want the feel of a sports car without the high cost? My BYD HAN can go from 0 to 100 km/h super fast, and it handles really well, thanks to how its battery is placed. But, you’ll probably only push it to its limits a couple of times – once for fun and once to show off to your friends. Drive fast, and you’ll need to charge a lot.
BYD’s Price Puzzle in Europe
A top model BYD in China costs about 35,000 euros. Bring it to Europe, and suddenly it’s over 70,000 euros. But you’re not really getting more for your money. The version in Europe is more restricted compared to the one in China.
BYD Blade Batteries
BYD’s Blade battery is amazing because it charges fully without worrying about getting worse over time. But, like most people, I try to keep my battery above 30% just in case, because having more charge is always better.
The Sweet Savings Spell of EVs
Switching to an EV means a lot of savings. You’re not just saving on gas; there’s also less maintenance like no need for spark plugs or timing belts. It’s simpler and can go 100km for about 7 euros, which is really efficient.
The Quiet Comfort of Going Electric
Lastly, driving an EV is so quiet. There’s no engine noise, and you get a smooth ride with instant power whenever you need it. It’s like floating on air.
